Addiction is largely the result of an inappropriate attempt to deal with stress in a way that results in additional stress being put on the body which cascades into a series of behaviors that stimulate each other in a loop. You feel low so you take or do something to boost feel good hormones artificially that then makes the next low feel lower so you feel like you need more of the thing that made you feel better. If you learn to recognize the stress response BEFORE it leads to an "EMOTIONAL TRIGGER" and use your own body to down regulate the response then it's easier to break that CYCLE OF ADDICTION and stay ahead of the feelings that would drive you to the addictive behavior.
